The Marks of a Real Man

Real Men Love the Lord Their God

Real men seek God first in all they do.  They love the Lord with all their heart, mind, soul and strength.  They honor Him with all they think, say and do.

Real Men Love Others

Real men love others as Christ loves them.  They die to self, esteem others better than themselves, and desire God's best for others.  Real men take up their cross daily for others.

Real Men Obey and Honor Their Parents

Real men believe in first-obedience to their parents.  They show a loving respect for their parents and always give them a place of honor in their heart.

Real Men Are Holy and Pure

Real men are pure in heart and flee anything that could cause them to stumble.  They make choices daily to keep themselves holy and pure, sanctified (separated) for God.  They flee sexual immorality.

Real Men Are Honest

Real men are honest in their dealings with others and with the Lord.  They speak the truth in love and do not gossip.  They are willing to accept the consequences of speaking truth.

Real Men Obey God and His Word

Real men know that obeying God and His Word shows their love of Jesus.  God desires obedience over sacrifice.  We are called to be doers of the Word and not just hearers.

Real Men Respect Authority

Real men are subject to the authorities over them (as long as it does not break the law or cause them to sin) because they know that all authority is ordained by God.  They are faithful to obey the law and to pay their taxes.

Real Men Forgive Others

Real men forgive others as Christ forgave them.  They know that unforgiveness is a sin and can cause a root of bitterness to dwell in their hearts.

Real Men Fear the Lord

Real men have a reverential fear of the Lord and as a result keep His commandments.  They know that God is a just God, but there are consequences for disobedience and sin.

Real Men Live by the Spirit and Not the Flesh

Real men walk by the Spirit, so they will not fulfill the desires of their flesh.  They allow the Holy Spirit to guide them at all times.

Real Men are Humble and Not Proud

Real men know that God resists the proud and rewards the humble.  They know that when they are meek in spirit, they are blessed, and God will exalt them in due time.

Real Men Speak Encouraging Words

Real men speak no corrupt words, but speak words that only build up and encourage others.  They do not swear or speak in wrath or anger.

Real Men Work Hard and Provide

Real men work unto the Lord.  They are not lazy and are always willing to work hard for the benefit of their family and for others.

Real Men Read God's Word Daily

Real men meditate on God's revealed Word daily.  They allow it to be a lamp unto their feet and a light to their path.  Through their daily reading, they are filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, which allows them to live a life of obedience.

Real Men are Faithful in Church

Real men do not forsake assembling together to worship the Lord.  They gather for doctrine, fellowship, breaking of bread and for prayer.

Real Men Trust the Lord

Real men trust in the Lord with all their heart.  They do not depend on their own understanding, but allow the Lord to direct all of their ways.

Real Men Praise and Worship the Lord

Real men know from where all their blessings come, and they continually praise and worship the Lord for the life He gives, for His eternal salvation, and for His everlasting mercy and love.

Real Men are Disciplined

Real men are disciplined spiritually, physically and mentally.  They learn to be content in whatever state they are in.  They know that the Christian race is not a sprint, but a marathon.

Real Men Serve

Real men follow the example of Christ who came to serve and not to be served.  They understand that no matter what position in life they find themselves, they are to continually serve the Lord and serve others for His glory.

Real Men Pray

Real men pray without ceasing.  They pray that their daily walk would be holy and pure.  They pray for their family, and they pray for others.  They pray for the Lord's wisdom and direction in all of their affairs.

Real Men Give

Real men give of themselves for the Lord's work.  They give of their time, their resources, and they give their heart to the Lord.  God, who so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that we could have eternal life in Him, is their example.

Real Men Lead Others to Christ

Real men are faithful to the command to go and make disciples and to share with others the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Real Men Lead

Real men lead their families spiritually.  They lead them to church, in prayer, in Bible study, and in giving.  They are a godly example to their wife and family.

Real Men Love Their Wives as Christ Loved the Church

Real men love their wives unconditionally.  They love their wives as Jesus Christ loved the church, who suffered for the church, served the church, and was willing to die for the church. This love is not a feeling, but something real men do.

Real Men Seek to Understand Their Wives

Real men dwell with their wives with understanding.  Through understanding their wives, they are able to lead them, nourish them, and bless them in a way that honors their wife and the Lord.

Real Men Teach Their Families God's Word

Real men study God's Word and burn it in their hearts.  They know it takes time and discipline, and then they are faithful to teach it to the families.  They don't depend on others to spiritually provide for their families, but they know that it is their responsibility, and they are faithful to do it.
